The term assessment refers to the process we engage in with our clients through which we determine the goals and needs of our clients and how best to assist them. We believe a key principle at all times, is the use of testing based assessment is a tool and forms one aspect of the overall assessment of our clients. We critically evaluate the process of using assessment instruments and implement testing practices in a way that is the most beneficial to you. We may use assessment instruments for a range of reasons. To reiterate, assessment instruments are used within the context of the counselling or advisory process and the use of this form of assessment aims to complement the career decision-making and planning process for our clients. Assessment instruments may be used to provide additional information for you and / or us. The aim is always to assist you in the in the career planning and decision making process. We do not use careers tools and inventories as substitutes for good counselling or advisory techniques, nor do we believe the information they provide be accepted without further questioning or contextualisation. However, when used in a professional manner, this form of assessment can help you to sort out your work and personal values and needs, identify occupational preferences, decision-making styles and behaviours, constraints to the career decision-making process, and personality preferences. They can also match interest profiles with occupational profiles. We are currently accredited to administer and feedback the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI), one of the world's most recognised assessment tools designed to help identify thinking preferences within individuals, pairs and teams. We are also accredited to deliver the Birkman Method tool designed to identify preferred interests, behavioural styles and needs. Both tools have been proven to be effective in supporting professional growth and development. We are also accredited to administer and feedback several new instruments including the Majors Personality Type InventoryTM (MajorsPTITM), and the Function-Skills Development AssessmentTM(FSDATM). |
